Delete your Safe Keeping data
Safe Keeping is a password app for Android made by Pixel Perfect Studios. It has no sign-in accounts: your passwords are kept locked on your phone, and our server only holds the few things listed in our privacy policy. This page explains how to delete them.
The quickest way: in the app
- Open Safe Keeping and tap Settings.
- Scroll to If something happens to me and tap Delete all my passwords.
- Type your main password, then type the word DELETE.
For your safety, this happens 7 days later, and you can cancel it until then. It deletes:
- all your saved passwords, notes, recovery key and family keys on your phone;
- your locked cloud backup copies on our server;
- your private email account, all its private addresses and your stored real email address;
- your safety contacts and their email addresses.
Deleting just one part
- Cloud backup: Settings → Cloud backup: OFF deletes your cloud backup copies (after the 7-day wait).
- A private email address: on the Private Email tab, delete the address. It's removed from our server straight away.
- A safety contact: Settings → Safety contacts → Remove. Someone who hasn't agreed yet is removed straight away; anyone else after 7 days.
- A safety contact who no longer wants emails can use the stop link at the bottom of any email from us.
If you no longer have the app or your phone
Because nothing on our server is linked to your name, we need something that identifies the data. Email us at support@safekeepingvault.app with whichever of these applies:
- Private email: one of your private addresses (for example k7m2q9xr4p@relay.safekeepingvault.app). To make sure the request is really yours, we'll email the inbox those addresses pass mail on to and ask you to confirm. We then delete the account and all its addresses.
- Safety contacts: the email address of the contact. We'll remove them.
- Cloud backup: backups aren't linked to any name or email, so we can't find yours without your recovery key. If you have it, install Safe Keeping, choose I'm moving from another phone, bring the backup back, then delete it as described above. Otherwise, a backup that isn't updated for 2 years is deleted automatically. It stays locked the whole time, and nobody can open it without your keys.
We'll act on requests within 30 days and let you know when it's done.
What isn't deleted
- Purchase records: to handle refunds and prevent fraud, we keep scrambled (hashed) purchase receipt codes and check results for up to 12 months after a purchase ends. They don't contain your name, email or payment details. Your purchase history itself is kept by Google Play.
- Short-lived records: daily anti-abuse counts are deleted the next day, and our providers' technical logs are kept for up to 30 days.
- Copies you made yourself, such as your Google account backup or a backup file in Google Drive, are managed in those services.
